What these terms cover
The site offers an attachment style test based on the ECR-R and ECR-RS questionnaires, a free result, and a full report. By using the site, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
What’s free right now
The test, the result, and the full report are free right now, with no sign-up needed.
The contents of the free part and of the site may change.
The test is not a diagnosis
Your result describes how you usually feel in close relationships, based on your own answers. It isn’t a medical or psychological assessment or a diagnosis, and it doesn’t replace seeing a professional. Please don’t make big decisions about a relationship based on the test alone.
If you’re struggling or having thoughts of hurting yourself, reach out to a professional or call your local emergency number (for example, 911 in the US or 112 in the EU). If you need to talk, call or text 988 in the US (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, free and 24/7.
Method and texts
The test statements come from the ECR-R (Fraley, Waller, Brennan, 2000) and ECR-RS (Fraley et al., 2011) questionnaires. The scoring key and norms come from the method author’s page. Translations of the statements into other languages are our own. The norms come from English-speaking samples, so your percentiles show how you compare with those samples.
We wrote the result and report texts ourselves. They draw on research, but they’re still an interpretation of your answers.
Account
An account keeps your results and purchases in one place. You’re responsible for keeping your password safe. You can delete your account from your account page at any time.
We may restrict an account that’s used to try to break into the site, send requests in bulk, or otherwise violate these terms.
Result links
Your result link and management code are issued to you personally. Anyone who gets the link can see the result, and anyone who gets the code can save or delete it. When you share them, you decide who sees your answers. We don’t publish results, and we keep their addresses out of search engines.
What you may not do
- take the test as someone else without their knowledge and pass the result off as theirs;
- use other people’s results to make decisions about hiring, education, insurance, or credit;
- disrupt the site: submit questionnaires automatically, get around its protection, or probe for vulnerabilities without our permission;
- copy the site’s texts and present them as your own.
Who owns the content
The site’s texts, design, illustrations, and code belong to us or are used with permission from their rights holders. The ECR-R and ECR-RS statements belong to their authors. You’re welcome to quote short excerpts with a link to ecrtest.com.
Liability
We work to keep the site running smoothly and the calculations accurate, but we can’t promise your result will match how you see yourself or what a professional would say. We aren’t responsible for decisions made based on the test or for outages beyond our control.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer protection laws.
Changes to these terms
The date and version of these terms are shown at the top of the page. Significant changes take effect no earlier than 14 days after we publish them.
